Blunt wants to investigate Kavanaugh allegations

Kavanaugh accuser said to be willing to testify before US Senate committee

"Special Report" anchor Bret Baier agrees with Judge Andrew Napolitano that the sexual assault allegation facing Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh will result in a hearing, similar to that of Clarence Thomas and Anita Hill.

The president is facing questions about Kavanaugh amid scrutiny of a woman's claim that the judge sexually assaulted her at a party when they were both in high school.

"I thought he might inadvertently kill me", Ford told the Washington Post.

Kavanaugh issued another denial Monday and said he has never done anything like the allegation.

Kavanaugh says in the statement he "had no idea who was making this accusation until she identified herself".

White House senior adviser Kellyanne Conway said sworn testimony from both Kavanaugh and Ford on the specific allegation should be considered as part of the record in the judge's hearings.

But the allegations of sexual misconduct, particularly coming amid the #MeToo movement against sexual harassment, coupled with Ms Ford's emergence could complicate matters.

She also denied that Dr Ford, a Democrat, is politically motivated.

Collins on Monday called for both Kavanaugh and Dr. Ford to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee under oath. One of those women, former Apprentice contestant Summer Zervos, is now suing Trump for defamation over his claim she lied about his alleged assault on her.

Ford also alleges that a friend of Kavanaugh's, Mark Judge, was a participant in the incident.

On Monday, Katz said her client is willing to testify before the Senate on her allegation that Kavanaugh tried to rape her in high school. Kavanaugh has categorically denied the incident occurred, so logically, both he and Ford can not both be telling the truth.

The California senator said in a statement after Ford went public that she backs her decision to tell about the alleged incident and hopes "the attacks and shaming of her will stop and this will be treated with the seriousness it deserves".

While Ford initially sought to keep her allegation confidential, she said she opted to go public once the allegation emerged in the public eye and reporters began pursuing her.

"To railroad a vote now would be an insult to the women of America and the integrity of the Supreme Court", he said in a statement.

"I've made it clear that I'm not comfortable moving ahead with the vote on Thursday if we have not heard her side of the story or explored this further", Flake told The Washington Post.

The committee's 10 Democratic members want to delay the planned vote and allow for an FBI investigation before the panel moves forward.

The allegation against Kavanaugh first came to light late last week in the form of a letter that had been for some time in the possession of Feinstein, the top Democrat on the committee and one of its four female members.

Republicans say the allegations have already cast a shadow over Mr Kavanaugh but that it does not appear to be enough to change the votes in the narrowly divided 51 - 49 Senate.

The Washington Post published Ford's accusations Sunday. Specifically, at Kavanaugh's Supreme Court confirmation hearing, Senator Patrick Leahy, (D-Vermont) asked Kavanaugh about information he received that had been taken from files stolen by Manuel Miranda from Democrats including Leahy himself.

Feinstein issued a statement on Sunday afternoon in support of Ford and calling for the FBI to investigate the matter before the Senate advances Kavanaugh's nomination.

Jim Gensheimer, a friend of Ford's, told the San Jose Mercury News that Ford has been "trying to forget about this all of her life, basically" and that she has told him that she is afraid to sleep in bedrooms that do not have a second way out.
