IPhone XS, XS Max: First Impression

Apple No Longer Bundles 3.5mm Audio Dongle With New iPhones

The extra cash bought you the larger screen as well as noticeably better battery life and a dual-camera system capable of all sorts of nice photography tricks.

In short, Apple's latest announcement prices out consumers looking for a more affordable iPhone, even if it is a few years old.

My, how times have changed.

Apple started to include the 3.5mm audio dongle with the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, because neither one of them come with a built-in 3.5mm audio jack. With the iPhone XR, which comes in yellow, coral, blue and red as well as black and white, the color is already baked into the phone (but you'll probably want a clear case for your glass-backed phone anyway).

"Through December 31, 2018, the out-of-warranty battery service fee is $29 for all eligible iPhone 6 or later models", Apple wrote on the page. Most surprisingly, despite including only a single wide-angle lens, Apple has managed to bring Portrait Mode to the iPhone XR by using the A12 ISP and Neural Engine to create depth segmentation maps. Instead, the company announced the $749 iPhone Xr, a phone that shares the design and numerous features of the iPhone X, but cuts a few corners to achieve a more palatable price.

The availability date for the iPhone Xr, set for October 26, was a bit later than expected, but it won't impact unit demand, "particularly given most early adopters will skew to the Xs Max".

Yesterday Apple announced the iPhone XR, a lower-cost new iPhone that sits beneath the American maker's new iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max flagships. It was not until two years' later that the company diversified the line. Now, the a compromised version of Apple's vision will set you back $750.

The iPhone XS Max is $1,099 for 64 GB, $1,249 for 256 GB, and $1,449 for 512 GB. The base variant of iPhone XS with 64GB memory will sell at Rs 99,990 whereas the 64GB variant of the 6.5-inch variant is priced at Rs 1,09,000. In fact, it's already working: the iPhone's average selling price increased to $724 in the last quarter, up from only $606 the year before.

"Apple, once again, has shown their mastery of pricing tiers, which will extract more revenue per customer".
