In new letter, North Korea's Kim asks for another meeting with Trump

U.S. President Donald Trump

Woodward, an associate editor of the Washington Post called the anonymous op-ed sub-standard and undeserving of publication. Last night's episode wasn't the first time The Late Show with Stephen Colbert covered it, but it was the first night that Woodward actually stopped by to talk about Fear.

"A third of my job was trying to react to some of the really unsafe ideas that he had and try to give him reasons to believe that maybe they weren't such good ideas", Porter told an associate, according to the book. "To be clear", he wrote in a subsequent tweet, "a number of the statements attributed to me and from others to me in the Woodward book are incorrect". But there is a more organic connection between the book and the op-ed.

US Defence Secretary Jim Mattis, in turn, is quoted as saying the president has the mental capacity of a "fifth or sixth grader", while Chief of Staff John Kelly is quoted as calling Mr Trump "an idiot". After all, Trump was a dark horse in the Republican primaries and the presidential race.

In fact, such omissions can be found aplenty in the book.

"The Woodward book is a scam".

To Woodward, some of the scenes he learned about and detailed in Fear could only be compared to the days of Richard Nixon - his investigative reporting, of course, in part led to Nixon's resignation during the Watergate scandal. During the lengthy interview, Colbert asked what in Woodward's research gave him the most fear? "There are many voices in there ..."

Trump also derided his predecessor's return to politics.

The tome is the product of hundreds of hours of interviews with sources close to the president, although Trump himself was not quoted as Woodward was unable to nail him down for an interview, despite repeated attempts.

During the interview, the president's son also touched on Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation, the prominence (and alleged bias) of Google, and the 2018 midterms.

The wave of Trump-related books will continue for the foreseeable future. On Tuesday, former Trump aides Gary Cohn and Rob Porter strained to distance themselves from the book, while leaving its content utterly unmolested.

According to reports, Donald Trump has been quoted by senior journalist Bob Woodward that PM Modi during his meeting with Donald Trump had raked the Afghanistan issue and told him that USA got nothing from Afghanistan. It's an example of Woodward's pattern of adopting witness accounts at face value. The author uses every trick in the book to demean and belittle.

Although the primary topic of this video has to do with the debate between getting information that's off the record or instead on deep background, the moment that strikes perhaps hardest is that Woodward found the current iteration of the White House "shocking".

Mr. Modi's alleged desire to be hosted at Camp David comes into discussion in the book in the context of former National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster's hot temper. "It's 1,000 percent correct, '" said Woodward.

"And that's how you end the book", Colbert said. For instance, Woodward demonizes Lebanon's Hezbollah, which has been integrated in national politics and is an important arm of national defense against threats from neighboring Israel.
