Elon Musk smokes weed on Joe Rogan's podcast

Chief accounting officer, Dave Morton, resigned after being with the company for one month, citing intense public attention. Shortly after, HR head Gabrielle Toledano, who'd taken a leave of absence last month, also said she wouldn't return.

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla was seen smoking a "blunt", a cigar filled with marijuana, on the Joe Rogan podcast yesterday.

"A lot of people don't like humanity and think it is a blight, but I don't", he said. It said Morton had no disagreements with Tesla's leadership or financial reporting. Musk, when offered a hit by Rogan, asked, "It's legal right?" before opting to take a puff.

Later on in the show, Musk declared, "I'm getting text messages from friends saying, 'What the hell are you doing smoking weed?'..." A podcast appearance Thursday night featuring whiskey, a joint and a Samurai sword was only the latest example of Musk's eccentric behavior.

Tesla shares fell as much as 10 percent, the steepest intraday drop since June 2016, and were down 4.9 percent to $267.28 as of 11:10 a.m.in NY. Last month, when he floated the idea of taking Tesla private at a premium price of $420 a share, many noted that "420" served as longstanding code for marijuana use. "Come on, man", said Rogan as Musk laughed.

He went on to say that running Tesla was the "hardest" job he has: "It's very difficult to keep a vehicle company alive". In an interview with Bloomberg Television, he called for the company to split up the chairman and CEO jobs - Musk has served both roles since October 2008. That was the day before Musk announced his plans to take the company private via tweet.

Business magnate Elon Musk is a provocateur, and he met his match in comedian Joe Rogan.

These give holders the option to convert them to Tesla stock at $360 per share on March 1, Business Insider's Graham Rapier reported. Keep this in mind, Mr. Morton was due a $10 million dollar new hire grant that would vest after four years with the company, and he willingly walked away from it. Neither Tesla nor Musk have commented on the Buzzfeed report.

Along with his electric auto company, Musk heads up space exploration firm Space X, tunnel construction firm The Boring Company, and Neuralink, which works on augmenting human brains with artificial intelligence.
