Ryan Giggs: 'Jose Mourinho is the right man for Manchester United'

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho

Ryan Giggs has voiced his support for Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho amid rumours he could soon lose his job.

"I was there on Monday as a United fan", said the Wales boss. "It is a tough time at the moment, but we have had tough times before and got through it".

The victory was Tottenham's third in three Premier League matches this season, Mauricio Pochettino's men having previously beaten Fulham and Newcastle United, and Kane said his team-mates were burying their reputation as slow starters.

United face Burnley, who have one point from their first three games, at Turf Moor on Sunday before the two-week global break, then will face Watford at Vicarage Road on September 15. Mourinho won a Champions League title with both Porto and Inter Milan before winning a trio of domestic trophies with Spanish giants Real Madrid.

The Daily Mail were among those to lead on the taunts from Spurs fans towards Jose of "You're getting sacked in the morning", while the Express picked up on Mourinho's refusal to discuss United's lack of summer activity in the transfer window.

The Red Devils struggled to beat Leicester City at home, lost to Brighton away and were then convincingly beaten at Old Trafford by top four rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

"The good thing about football is that you always have the next game", added Giggs. "The club are going through a tough time but I don't see where they go after Mourinho".

"United are a fantastic club with a fantastic manager".

Martial's contract situation is the latest example of the split that exists between Mourinho and Ed Woodward with regard to the future direction of the club.
