Donald Trump warns countries against trading with Iran after Washington reimpose sanctions

TENSE IN TEHRAN: The President Slams Iran With 'MOST BITING SANCTIONS EVER IMPOSED'

Under the accord, Iran agreed to limit its sensitive nuclear activities and allow global inspections in return for the lifting of crippling economic sanctions. In fact, the United States has said that to achieve significant reductions in Iranian oil exports it needs India to observe the sanctions.

The sanctions, which were initially lifted under the deal, center on the auto industry and any instance of Iran buying US dollars.

Oettinger said that the regionally based and decentralized financial sector traditionally has few ties to US financial markets and was hence less likely to be hit by the new sanctions regime.

In recent weeks Rouhani renewed the threat, saying that if sanctions threatened Iran's crude oil exports, the rest of the Mideast's exports would be threatened as well.

Ri is on a two-day visit to Tehran, and is due to meet with President Hassan Rouhani on Wednesday.

Noting Iran's geographic proximity to Europe, Maas warned that 'anyone who's hoping for regime change must not forget that whatever follows could bring us much bigger problems'.

The general overseeing U.S. military operations in the Middle East said Wednesday that an Iranian naval exercise around the Strait of Hormuz was meant to send a message to Washington before it reimposed sanctions on Tehran.

Iran rejected U.S. calls for talks earlier this week after Trump reimposed sanctions against the Islamic Republic following his withdrawal from a 2015 deal brokered by former President Barack Obama and several world powers to curb Iran's nuclear program. European countries fear that abandoning the accord will lead to accelerated development of nuclear weapons in Iran. A second batch of United States sanctions will be re-imposed on Iran in November with the aim of undermining its oil exports and shipping sectors.

Tuesday's sanctions target Iran's purchases of US dollars, metals trading, coal, industrial software and the auto sector. While the European Union is enforcing the so-called Blocking Statute to protect its firms operating in Iran from looming United States sanctions against the country, Germany, a signatory the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), has criticized the United States approach. "And it's a good way to show their capacity to inflict economic cost against the United States".

Zarif welcomed Ri and a team of officials at the foreign ministry in Tehran, but no statement was made to reporters.

Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the highest authority inIran, said the country had nothing to be concerned about, his official website said on Wednesday. They had also proposed setting up accounts for the Central Bank of Iran in their national banks, he added. USA prosecutors indicted several Iranians, alleging they worked at the behest of the Iranian government.

The Strait of Hormuz links the Persian Gulf to the Arabian Sea and is "the world's most important oil transit chokepoint", according to The US Energy Information Administration, with 20% of oil traded worldwide moving through the waterway.

The menacing comments are an indication of the combustible nature of dealings between the two countries, as disagreements over the nuclear deal escalate and routine diplomatic interactions, which occurred under the Obama administration, cease.
