Will Smith To Perform Official Anthem For The FIFA World Cup #FIFAWorldCup2018

Diplo & Will Smith Team Up For Official World Cup 2018 Anthem Matthew Meadow

The track, according to Billboard and other outlets, will be released Friday and was produced by Diplo, the producer whose hits with Major Lazer included "Lean On" and "Cold Water".

Smith and Jam have been seen in Cartegena, Colombia, with producer DJ Nelson telling music web site Vibe they might be performing the tune for this summer season's event in Russian Federation. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Smith will join Nicky Jam and Kosovo singer Era Istrefi to perform the anthem.

As first reported by Vibe, Smith has developed a friendship with Latino artist Nicky Jam, famous for his work with Enrique Iglesias and Daddy Yankee - and it's led to the pair getting in the studio in Budapest to produce the track.

The U.S. men's team won't be playing in the World Cup, but there will be one distinctly American imprint on the tournament next month.

Before news of the World Cup song leaked out, Smith and Nicky Jam were already talking about each other on social media.

Although there are multiple songs associated with the World Cup, the official anthem is usually the most high-profile and is performed at the finale of the World Cup, which will be watched by an estimated 2 billion people. 'So excited for the World Cup, can't wait to be there and experience it'.

Past anthems have included Pitbull's "We Are One (Ole Ola)", Shakira's "Waka Waka", and Ricky Martin's "The Cup Of Life".

However Smith and co would be expected to perform their song at the opening ceremony.
