YouTube Is Testing Out Incognito Mode for Its Android App

The YouTube Kids app contains a timer function which lets you physically limit the amount of content they're allowed to watch before finally locking them out. For instance, Chrome and Gboard have been calling this Incognito Mode, but Firefox calls it Private Browsing mode. YouTube Incognito Mode might make things a little simpler. But the new Incognito Mode should be easier to access by just tapping your account picture in the top right corner, where a "Turn on Incognito" toggle will be available.

Some will say that implementing this type of feature into an application is appreciated, but it can actually be quite the hassle if it isn't readily available to the user.

It's already possible to achieve similar results in the app by going to the History & privacy page in the app's settings, but the new incognito mode will place the toggle under the account options in the menu.

To get started, you should be prompted to enable Voice Remote in YouTube TV the next time you open it. It's as if you were signed out without being so, and there's a neat incognito icon replacing your avatar. This leaves an empty spot where some people are seeing the new Turn on/off Incognito option placed.

Thankfully, that's all of us: a quick survey in the TNW newsroom revealed all manner of unnecessary viewing, like this ancient Vine, this way-too-slick clip of beetleweight fighting robots, this primate peeing into its own mouth, and this dude delivering the most profound monologue ever while enjoying an LSD trip in the Thar desert.
