American Gods season two goes into production, will premiere in 2019

American Gods share video from the start of production for season two

American Gods author/executive producer Neil Gaiman offered up a sneak peek at Season 2 of the Starz drama Monday when he tweeted a photo of himself and new co-showrunner Jesse Alexander with the cast at a spot fans of the book will instantly recognize: House on the Rock in Spring Green, Wisc. The House on the Rock is the meeting place for a conference between the gods. This is going to be one of the most exciting, ambitious shows out there and the bar is set high for the second season.

"The first season was all about getting to the House on the Rock", Gaiman explains.

This suggests that American Gods' second season will likely be dedicated to the war of the gods hinted at end of the show's first season finale. Season two will also see the return of Mad Sweeney played by Pablo Schreiber (13 Hours), Tech Boy played by Bruce Langley and Kristin Chenoweth (Descendants) as Easter, in addition to some new unannounced characters. World, Cloris Leachman (Raising Hope) as Zorya Vechernyaya, Peter Stormare (Fargo) as Czernobog, Mousa Kraish (Fast & Furious) as The Jinn, Omid Abtahi (Argo) as Salim, Chris Obi (Snow White and the Huntsman) as Anubis, and Demore Barnes (12 Monkeys) as Mr. Ibis.

Watch this! You'll be able to see it all in 2019 on @STARZ in the United States, and Amazon Prime Video in the rest of the world. Though season 2 won't be hitting the screen until 2019, fans can now rest assured that work is underway on turning it into a batch of episodes those working behind-the-scenes can be proud of!

Executive Producer and writer Neil Gaiman announced the start of filming in a new video that has been released online [see below]. Lisa Kussner will produce.
