Jan Akrosh rally: Congress will win Karnataka, Lok Sabha polls, says Rahul

Rahul Gandhi attacks PM Modi in 'Jan Akrosh' rally says farmers can't survive without Congress

"But this anger has now been channelized", the Congress said in an article on its website ahead of the rally.

He accused the Prime Minister of being silent over Union Minister Piyush Goyal's alleged sale of shares held in a privately-held company at almost 1,000 times the face value. But the people have had a hard time sifting through his words and find truth in them.

Congress Leader, Rahul Gandhi attacked Narendra Modi today at the Jan Akrosh Rally, which took place in Delhi, near the Red fort. Sonia Gandhi and Ex Prime Minister of India, Manmohan Singh were also present at the occasion spoke about the failures of Modi government.

The well-attended rally at Ram Lila Maidan came nearly a year before the next Lok Sabha polls and signalled Gandhi's intention to build up electoral momentum with sharp attacks on Modi and his government.

Addressing the rally, the Congress President said people are unhappy with the Narendra Modi government.

"He had promised employment to two lakh people every year". The Congress party fights for "Satya" (Truth) and not Satta (power).

Terming the Modi government as "directionless and anti-people", Gandhi said it had betrayed the people by making false promises.

He also attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), where he said only the views of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and party President Amit Shah held sway.

Meanwhile, Rahul also launched a fusillade on PM Modi and his government, questioning why the country's "chowkidar" was silent on issues of graft and weakening of institutions.

Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said the Congress rally was more of a "Kursi ki lalach ki rally (a rally on greed for power)".

The UPA leader said atrocities on women had increased so much that even little girls were not safe now and that housewives were having tough times managing household budget thanks to unchecked price rise. "It is clear from this that if Parliament does not function, it can pose danger to the democracy in the country".

Gandhi claimed that he had urged Modi to waive farmers's loans, but did not receive a response.

"Modi ji did not publicly speak a single word on Dokalam during his visit to China. Democracy is a gift of the India's Constitution and we should all strive to strengthen it", he said. "Their machinery and Modi ji spread lies about Congress, its workers and leadership, now he is being exposed because we have worked to unite this country in last 70 years, unlike the BJP." he said. Today such an atmosphere is being created where the constitutional institutions are being insulted.

"Judiciary is passing through an unprecedented crisis".

"Shah questioned the Congress party for 'disallowing" the Parliament from functioning and preventing the formation of an OBC commission.
