Davidson delivers as White Sox outlast Royals

By the Numbers Matt Davidson leads another home run barrage in KC

The White Sox' designated hitter had his third multi-home run game of the season on Friday night, including hitting the go-ahead home run in the 11th to give Chicago a 7-4 win over the Royals-impressive stuff when you consider it's only April 27. We've won every day we've been here. Davidson has seven home runs in 15 at-bats over four games at Kansas City.

The White Sox pitching has been an even bigger part of the teams problems with a 5.62 team ERA and 1.60 WHIP that says a lot of runners are getting on base and plenty are scoring.

"He's had tremendous at-bats", said Joe McEwing, who is the acting manager while Rich Renteria attends his mother's funeral. The team's hit.242/.318/.410 over its last five matchups and is 1-4 SU during that span.

Davidson hit three home runs in Chicago's season-opening victory at Kansas City. This will be his first night start of the season. His two-run homer in the 11th put the White Sox ahead to stay. He gave up four runs and six hits in six innings.

White Sox starter Reynaldo Lopez allowed four runs (two earned) on 10 hits and no walks while striking out two over 6 1/3 innings.

Kansas City built a 2-0 lead in the first on Mike Moustakas' eighth homer and Jorge Soler's RBI double - which came after first baseman Jose Abreu dropped Soler's foul popup for an error. "They saved my life", said Yost after his fall from a deerstand in November.

Ned Yost is in the final year of his contract and the Kansas City Royals are struggling, but Dayton Moore wants him back. "I'm glad for them to come and see this handsome stadium and attractive city".

The White Sox have gone only 7-16 SU this year and are 10-12 against the spread (ATS).

Royals: OF Bubba Starling, who pulled his left oblique in spring training, was activated and optioned to Triple-A Omaha. He'll potentially get two games to try and add to his record on Saturday as the White Sox and Royals play a doubleheader, plus the series finale on Sunday.

Royals: RHP Trevor Oaks will be the 26th man and make his big league debut, starting the day game.

Rookie left-hander Eric Skoglund will start the second game for the Royals.
