Trump makes cryptic comment about getting involved with Justice Department

Giuliani met with Mueller to discuss possible Trump interview report

People watch a TV screen showing file footage of South Korean President Moon Jae-in and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un during a news program ahead of the inter-Korean summit at the Seoul Railway Station in Seoul, South Korea, April 26, 2018.

President Donald Trump took shots at the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Justice Department during a half-hour phone interview on "Fox and Friends" Thursday morning, hinting that at "some point" he might step in and take action. "It is an absolute disgrace", Trump said. "And our Justice Department, which I try and stay away from, but at some point I won't". "I will wait until this is over", Mr. Trump said on "Fox & Friends".

Saying he was "very disappointed in my Justice Department", Trump left the door open to changing his mind. It is a total.it is all lies and it is a disgusting thing that is going on, a terrible thing.

Trump added, "Because of the fact that they have this witch hunt going on with people in the Justice Department that shouldn't be there". "They have a witch-hunt against the president of the United States going on".

Mr. Trump also touched on former FBI Director James B. Comey, accusing him of leaking classified information and inaccurately recounting their interactions.

Legal experts and commentators immediately reacted with alarm to Trump's rant, which was widely interpreted as a blatant threat to obstruct an ongoing investigation.

Trump said he thought he "did a great thing" by firing Comey past year.

A majority of Americans think Special Counsel Robert Mueller will find that President Donald Trump committed offenses that could lead to his impeachment, according to a new poll by Fox News.

The special counsel has become reminiscent of Cotton Mather and Joseph McCarthy.

Negotiations between Trump's legal team and the special counsel's team broke down in March when John Dowd, the lawyer who preceded Giuliani as head counsel for the Russian Federation probe, resigned due to disagreements with Trump about the interview.
