Malaysia Releases Photo Of Suspect In Palestinian's Killing

Heartbroken Wife Of Murdered Palestinian Lecturer Returns To Homeland For Good

The case has drawn attention to the possible involvement of Israel's intelligence agency, Mossad.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun said at a press conference today, that the photo was obtained following the discovery yesterday of the motorcycle used by the two men near Tasik Danau Kota.

On Saturday, Palestinian lecturer Fadi al-Batsh, 35, was gunned down as he was walking to a mosque near his home to lead dawn prayers.

The suspects were believed to have entered Malaysia sometime in late January, but it was not known what nationalities they were or where they had traveled from, said Mohamad Fuzi.

The Gaza health ministry announced he had died after receiving treatment inside Israel, which the Sheba hospital near Tel Aviv confirmed.

"We believe the suspects are still in the country", he said. Police earlier published two computer-generated facial composite images describing the suspects as "most likely born in the Middle East or in the West".

The new photo shows a light-skinned man with dark, wavy hair and a prominent goatee.

The killing was done in a "very professional" manner and police are working on the angle that the assailants may be foreign agents, Fuzi said. "The Palestinian embassy in Malaysia has received documents signed by the Egyptian side authorising the transfer of the martyr's [Al-Batch] body to Gaza via the Rafah crossing", he explained.

A Palestinian journalist passed away on Wednesday after succumbing to wounds he sustained after being shot by Israeli forces while covering Gaza border protests on April 13.

Batsh's expertise in making weapons could have made him a target - militants in Hamas-ruled Gaza regularly fire rockets at southern Israel, usually without causing casualties.

Mossad is believed to have assassinated Palestinian militants and scientists in the past, but rarely confirms such operations.

Reports also say Batsh was an electrical engineering lecturer at a Malaysian university.
