North Korea will discuss denuclearization, USA official says

Report: US Talks Secretly With North Korea Ahead Of Trump's Meeting With Kim Jong Un

The timeline for the Trump-Kim summit remains unknown although the South Korean side have said that it would take place by May.

Although Trump tweeted on March 28 he was looking forward to the meeting, expressing, "there's just a good chance that Kim Jong Un will perform what is ideal for his people and also for humanity", many economists also have expressed doubt about the close program's aims.

Central Intelligence Agency Director Mike Pompeo and the CIA team have been operating through intelligence back-channels to make arrangements for the summit, the CNN news channel reported.

Both sides have met several times in a third country to determine a location for the historic summit, U.S. officials told CNN.

American and North Korean officials have spoken several times and have met in a third country to settle on the summit's location, administration officials say - with Kim pushing for a Pyongyang meeting and the USA looking for a neutral site like Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia.

South Korea's National Intelligence Service Chief Suh Hoon has been in close contact with his U.S. and North Korean counterparts, reported Korea Herald.

The talks were laying the groundwork for a meeting between Pompeo and his North Korea counterpart, the head of the Reconnaissance General Bureau, in advance of the leaders' summit. Officials said the current target is late May or even June.

In a separate report, a USA think-tank says North Korea may have started testing a new reactor.

"It's a natural step in the right direction". The representatives of the United States of America and North Korea have already met in a third country.

"But we can not say for certain that the United States counterpart in the North was Reconnaissance General Bureau".

China and Russian Federation are both permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, which has imposed sanctions on North Korea in a bid to force negotiations with Pyongyang. We'll see what happens.

North and South Korea held talks over establishing a telephone hotline between their leaders and other communication issues ahead of a rare summit between the rivals later this month.
