NXIVM responds to founder Keith Raniere's arrest and alleged cult activity

The Canadian actress, who now stars in the CBC series The Burden of Truth, has been named as a former member of NXIVM, a group many publications have branded as a sex cult, with stories swirling over her role after the group's co-founder Keith Raniere was arrested in Mexico recently. Kreuk was also accused of recruiting and luring young women to be a part of Nxvim which has now been exposed as a sex cult that brands and brainwashes women who are members.

CBS Los Angeles spoke to Raniere's former girlfriend Toni Natalie, who said of his arrest, "When I heard it, it was disturbing to hear what he's been doing".

"Allison was used, as was Kristen, as a lure to bring in other women due to their celebrity status", Parlato said.

According to Mr Parlarto, after Kreuk had left Mack was instrumental in coming up with the idea to brand the cult members, using a cauterising pen bearing a combination of her initials, AM, with Raniere's, KR.

Parlato adds that women are kept on strict diets of 500 to 800 calories because Raniere likes his women thin, and claims "fat" drains them of their energy.

Authorities said that Ranier's group was financed by Clare Bronfman, an heiress to the liquor company Seagram.

TMZ also has a video of someone thought to be Mack chasing down the police after the arrest. "For months, I have worked to expose Keith Raniere and NXIVM and today's arrest vindicates my efforts".

According to a criminal complaint, Raniere - known within the group as "Vanguard" - oversaw a barbaric system in which women were told the best way to advance was to become a "slave" overseen by "masters".

Mack has not updated any of her social media profiles since the arrest. Allison Mack's charges have not been made clear, but she could be charged as a co-conspirator in the sex trafficking scandal.

A representative from the United States Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of NY had no comment when Newsweek asked if any of co-conspirators would face charges.

Raniere left the United States late a year ago after The New York Times reported the stories of some women who defected from their secret sorority and the government began interviewing potential witnesses.

The case is being prosecuted in federal court in Brooklyn.

A November investigation by the New York Times first exposed NXIVM and the DOS to a wider audience.
