It settled into an orbit about 217 miles (350 kilometers) above Earth - a little lower than the International Space Station, whose average altitude is 250 miles (400 km).
Tiangong-1 is moving too fast and too randomly for trackers to narrow it down any more precisely than somewhere between 43 degrees north latitude and 43 degrees south latitude. The information is then combined with that collected by other teams from NASA and ESA to seek confirmation of the debris' size and orbit to predict where the debris will come to land.
There will be a visible fireball when the space station re-enters the atmosphere and begins to break apart. It orbited the Earth between 1973 and 1979.
Shenzhou 10, the second mission to the station, launched on June 11, 2013, with three astronauts aboard. At least that's what major space observatories around the world are suggesting.
It is now orbiting at an average height of about 216.2 kilometres, but experts are still unclear about the exact location of re-entry.
Another spacecraft, Skylab, also did not injure anyone at the time when it crashed, and its parts were later gathered.
Following a meeting with the Italian Civil Protection Department, which prepares for and manages disasters, the ASI said Tiangong-1 could potentially crash around south-central Italy.
The Tiangong-1 is China's first space station and was launched seven years ago with an ambition to become a space superpower to overthrow the West and Russian Federation.
In 1979, the 77-tonne USA space station Skylab fell toward Earth, with some pieces, both large and small, reaching the ground.
Meanwhile, ESA will serve as host and administrator of a test campaign regarding the re-entry of Tiangong-1, conducted by the Inter Agency Space Debris Coordination Committee (IADC). "According to the calculations and analysis that have been carried out, most of the structural components of Tiangong-1 will be destroyed through burning during the course of its re-entry".
A United Nations agreement means any part of Tiangong-1 remains the property of China.
It is not now confirmed whether notoriously secretive China has been able to maintain or re-establish links with Tiangong-1, which would let them fire engines at the last minute to avoid land collisions.
The space lab will fall back to Earth on its own, pulled down by the atmospheric drag.
The China Manned Space programme, which put Tiangong-1 into orbit in September 2011, has been mostly mum on the fate of China's first space station, created to test technologies related to docking in orbit.
The likelihood of debris from the defunct space station hitting Italy is 0.2 percent, the agency (ASI) said on Monday after a meeting with the Civil Protection Department, which helps prepare for and manage disasters.
