Turkey 'neutralizes' 9 PKK terrorists in northern Iraq

Turkish jets ‘neutralize’ 38 PKK terrorists in N. Iraq

Turkish authorities use the word "neutralized" when militants are either killed or captured or when they surrender.

The explosives planted by the terrorists in Cukurca district were destroyed as part of the anti-terror operations being conducted in the province since March 19, said the sources, who asked not to be named due to restrictions on talking to the media.

Earlier, Iraq's Foreign Ministry condemned Turkey's attacks on what Ankara suspected were Kurdish rebel camps in northern Iraq, along the countries' shared border.

'Turkey is prepared to cooperate with the Iraqi government in the fight against terrorism and thus strengthen the sovereignty of both countries, ' a document says citing Yildiz's statements.

A statement issued by his office said the Iraqi minister emphasized deep relations with Turkey, but expressed "absolute rejection" of any violation by Turkish forces to Iraq's borders.

The UN and the European Union list the PKK as a terrorist organization.

Before the poll, most regional actors, including Turkey, had voiced opposition to the referendum, with many warning that it would further destabilise the already volatile region.

The monitor also reported on Monday that militants with the so-called Free Syrian Army (FSA), which is backed by Turkey, had gone on a rampage in Afrin, pillaging shops and homes after capturing the city.
