Emery: No dispute between PSG and Brazil over injured Neymar

Neymar Bernabeu

The 26-year-old attacker, who made a world-record move from Barcelona to PSG for €222 million last August, receives a net salary of around €40m per year but adds to that annually thanks to a lucrative contract with the sportswear company.

"Re-education will begin immediately under the direction of a club physiotherapist".

Initially Neymar's father predicted the injury would keep his son out for between six to eight weeks, giving him plenty of time to recover for the tournament in Russian Federation.

"He will be re-evaluated in around six weeks in order to specify a possible date when he can return to training".

In the heated atmosphere around the operation, Brazil's Globoesporte website claimed that Neymar was expected to come by helicopter and had booked a whole wing of the Mater Dei hospital.

Neymar will miss Brazil's friendlies later this month against World Cup hosts Russian Federation and reigning champions Germany, but Lasmar said he expected Neymar to be back in time for the World Cup finals, which kick off on June 14.

The bone in question is the fifth metatarsal, a long bone connecting to the little toe.

Marco Verratti was also rested for Saturday's trip, as Di Maria again took full advantage of the opportunity presented to several members of PSG's expensively assembled squad in the wake of Neymar's injury.

Staff at the hospital, a tall building with mirrored windows, were put on paparazzi lockdown, with a ban on using their cellphones anywhere near the star.

But a big part of that optimism depends on the talented Neymar, who missed that infamous humiliation four years ago through injury. That means Neymar missing two friendlies and a lot of other preparation before a tournament where Brazil, as ever, is seen as a favorite.

A potential plus for Neymar is that the enforced break from competitive football may do him good. "It's remarkable. There's a sacred place at home where they keep anything that has something to do with Neymar".

"I hope he recovers quickly in time for the Cup", said Mateus Falqueto, 13, who waited outside the hospital in the hope of getting Neymar's autograph. "They watch all the games and when Neymar was injured they cried".
