Signs the Walls Are Closing in on Jared Kushner

Kushner's Israeli business ties examined amid loss of security clearance

The real estate company owned by the family of White House senior adviser Jared Kushner, who also happens to be President Donald Trump's son-in-law, received more than $500 million in loans a year ago after executives from the lending companies met with Kushner at the White House.

Joshua Harris, a founder of Apollo Global Management, was advising Trump administration officials on infrastructure policy.

The job never materialized, but in November, Apollo lent $184 million to Mr. Kushner's family real estate firm, Kushner Companies.

Also early in 2017, Kushner met with a chief exec from Citigroup in the White House.

Kushner, who lost his security clearance to White House following reports that he breached the ethics rule, found himself in the middle of another controversy after the report alleged that Kushner met with the top heads of the lending firms at the White House past year, after which he received an exorbitant sum of loan to aid his company's business ventures. Visit for more information on this news. And that, on its own, raises concerns about the subsequent financial transactions between Kushner Companies and Apollo.

The $325 million from Citigroup was one of the largest loans Kushner Companies received a year ago. President Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner's clearance was similarly downgraded, Politico reported Tuesday.

It also stated that information regarding the family members was also requested. Kushner may assert that he can do his job with a downgraded security clearance but, having worked in the White House and in diplomacy, I think that is false.

"Our company is a multibillion enterprise that is extremely financially strong". The inquiries ask for information from banks about their relationships with Mr. Kushner, including his bank accounts and loans, they said. "These types of inquiries appear to be harassment exclusively for political reasons".

Kushner Companies spokeswoman Christine Taylor criticized The Times, calling the story an attempt to make "insinuating connections that do not exist to disparage the financial institutions and companies involved".

Peter Mirijanian, a spokesman for Kushner's lawyer Abbe Lowell, said Kushner has had no role in Kushner Cos since joining the government.

This blurring of lines is a potential liability for Kushner, who recently lost his top-secret security clearance amid worries from some US officials that foreign governments might try to gain influence with the White House by doing business with Kushner. It helped finance a a group of office buildings in Brooklyn.

These investigations all appear to be separate from that of special counsel Robert Mueller, who is investigating possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian Federation during the 2016 election.

Kushner's troubled financial portfolio is seen by some within the U.S. government as a liability, potentially making him vulnerable to other countries that might seek to take advantage.

In Kushner's case, a permanent clearance wasn't coming anytime soon; according to the Washington Post, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein had warned the White House on February 9 that recent revelations in Kushner's background investigation "could be an obstacle to his clearance process".
