Trump, at CPAC, Does Not Mention Raising Minimum Age for Guns

WATCH LIVE: Donald Trump speaks at the Conservative Political Action Conference

"They were very gentle".

Days after a dramatic White House meeting with survivors and the friends and family of victims of the Florida high school shooting, Trump said he had been moved by what he heard.

The audience leapt into chants of "build the wall", and "lock her up", the latter a jab at 2016 Democratic presidential nominee Hillary ClintonHillary Diane Rodham ClintonWoman behind pro-Trump Facebook page denies being influenced by Russians Trump: CNN, MSNBC "got scammed" into covering Russian-organized rally Pennsylvania Democrats set to win big with new district map MORE.

"They will put judges in that you wouldn't believe, they'll take away your 2nd Amendment, which we will never allow to happen, they'll take away your 2nd Amendment", he said of Democrats to raucous cheers from the crowd, which skews younger.

It's not always easy to hide bald spots, especially when you're a president, considering one of your duties is to climb the windy stairs to Air Force One with cameras watching every step.

Trump went on to tout his conservative credentials, reminding the group that when he first started running, people questioned his sincerity.

"When we declare our schools to be gun-free zones, it just puts our students in far more danger", Trump said.

Matt Schlapp is the chairman of the American Conservative Union (ACU), which organizes CPAC every year.

Trump bragged about the recent record stock market climb, boasted that he has fulfilled more campaign promises than any other President and encouraged Republicans to hit the polls for the midterm elections.

The crowd roared. Then, as many people would do when they suddenly realize they're being looked at, he considered how his hair looked.

"Don't be complacent", Trump warned his fellow conservatives.

"Democrats are always fighting for the criminal they are not fighting for law abiding citizens", he said. "Remember that. They will take away those massive tax cuts and take away your Second Amendment".

"It's time to make our schools a much harder target for attackers".

"Immigration", Trump said again, before launching into a recitation of the lyrics. But at separate event with the nation's governors, who are attending a weekend conference, Vice President Mike Pence noted that Trump had called for raising the age to 21, part of what Pence called "working with leaders in the Congress to bring this evil in our time to an end".

Trump has also been accused of sexual misconduct by almost 20 women. "I want people coming into this country based on merit".
