Villanova (East), Xavier (Midwest) and Michigan State (Midwest) joined Virginia as top seeds. Bruce Rasmussen, the director of athletics at Creighton University, will be the chairman of the 2018 NCAA Tournament selection. "Virginia's a dominant defensive team, but they're much better offensively than they've been". Auburn's current RPI rating is 8th and boast a strength of schedule of 36th. The official tournament bracket will be revealed on Sunday, March 11.

The No. 3 seeds are: Clemson (20-4), Texas Tech (21-4), Michigan State (24-3) and North Carolina (19-7).

East: 1. Villanova, 2. The exception was Virginia, which was replaced by Purdue. That ranking would make Duke a No. 2 seed in the NCAA tournament. Only Virginia dropped out of the top 16. No other conference had more than three teams.

The Blue Devils were widely thought to be a strong candidate for a No. 1 seed before last Saturday's stunning loss to St. John's, and the defeat against the Tar Heels Thursday night made matters worse. Meanwhile, Virginia Tech jumped to 56th from 67th, upgrading its chances of earning a tournament bid. Clemson is now ranked 16th by the Associated Press and 15th in the USA Today Coaches Poll. The only area where the Wildcats have the edge is three Quadrant 1 wins to Rhode Island's one. I wouldn't have felt great.

"Really proud of the way our guys have played this year, gotten off to a great start, certainly have a little work left to finish". Who knows if you'll get that chance? The Wildcats earned the No. 4 seed in the West, but delving deeper into the resumes, Rhode Island looks better almost across the board.
