Two Ohio Police Officer Killed Responding To 911 Call

One officer was killed in the shooting and another died shortly after, according to police, who have the suspect is in custody.

Two Ohio police officers were shot and killed while responding to an emergency call during a possible domestic violence incident Saturday, authorities said.

Officials have identified the officers as Officer Anthony Morelli and Officer Eric Joering.

A suspect, whose name was withheld, was shot and taken to a hospital.

When the officers arrived, the killer opened fire.


Joe Morbitzer, the chief of the Westerville Division of Police, was visibly shaken as he appeared before reporters during a press conference early Saturday evening.

The shootings happened at about 1 p.m.in Westerville, Ohio.

The Westerville Police Department told Fox News the officers were "responding to a 911 hang-up call" when the shooting occurred.

The investigation is being led by the Columbus Police Department, Morbitzer confirmed.
