Microsoft Build 2018 developer conference will kick off on May 7

Windows 10 Progressive web apps

"Just download the Authenticator App and use it to set up your Windows 10 S PC", instructed Dona Sarkar, head of the Windows Insider Program, and Brandon LeBlanc, senior program manager at Microsoft, in February 7 blog post.

It's been quite the year for Microsoft as it focuses on Windows Mixed Reality, new Surface laptops, and improving Cortana to compete against rivals such as Amazon's Alexa, Apple's Siri, and Google's Assistant. Progressive Web Apps (not to be confused with Android's native "Instant Apps") use relatively fresh new web technologies to make websites work better offline or with intermittent connections, and often mimic native features like push notifications. Within this dialogue you can manage the graphics performance preference of your apps similar to the profile settings you might have used in graphics control panels from AMD and Nvidia.

Microsoft's war against passwords has taken a new turn in Windows 10 preview build 17093.

The update will give Insiders early access to Windows 10's HDR features. Users should go to Settings, then to Privacy then to Diagnostics & feedback. In Settings Apps Video playback "if the "Stream HDR video" toggle can be switched to "On", your device can be calibrated for HDR video," explains Microsoft. The same also applies to Microsoft which prompted them to introduce Diagnostic data viewer in their last build. But according to Microsoft, there can't be one recommendation out of UWP and PWA as "the Universal Windows Platform fully embraces the Progressive Web Apps" and EdgeHTML is also the foundational base of UWP apps. The browser also gains the ability to print "certain types of webpages" in a clutter-free mode without ads and other unnecessary page elements.

Windows Security improvements: The Windows Defender section in the Settings app has been redesigned and renamed "Windows Security".

Bluetooth has been debugged, there's a full-screen mode for the Edge browser if you like that sort of thing, and predictive text can now cope with multiple languages.
