Evaluation reveals post-Brexit influence on United Kingdom areas

Tanaiste Simon Coveney said he hoped Britain would strike a deal on trade with the European Union in the next round of talks.

Leaks from the Department for Exiting the EU (Dexeu) papers indicate Scottish economic growth would be cut under each of the three scenarios examined - a no deal Brexit, if the United Kingdom agreed a trade deal, or if it continued to remain in the European single market.

It is expected to provoke quarrels both within the ruling Conservative Party and between the government and the Democratic Unionist Party of Northern Ireland, whose ten MPs have given their support to Prime Minister Theresa May, providing her a majority in the House of Commons.

It suggests Northern Ireland will remain under European Union law after the transition period where it is relevant to the north-south economy, and the requirements of the Good Friday Agreement.

Perhaps even more stark are the effect a no-deal exit would have on retail prices - with the secret analysis suggesting overall high street prices to rise by 21%, and, crucially, food and drink costs to rise by 17%.

In response, Mrs Bradley said Brexit Secretary David Davis had "dealt with the issues surrounding the leaked report".

The latest leak of the UK Government's Brexit papers reveals Whitehall's economic assessment of various scenarios broken down by region.

A UK Government spokeswoman said: "We wanted to give MSPs the opportunity to view the document before recess".

Speaking at the Policy Forum for Ireland conference in Dublin, Michael D'Arcy, Ireland's minister of state for finance, public expenditure and reform, said of the commitments to the DUP: "It is not a matter for the Irish government".

"We are seeking an unprecedented, comprehensive and ambitious economic partnership - one that works for all parts of the UK".

Leaked figures show the regional impact of three Brexit scenarios.

"This is frankly a nightmare scenario for our region and for the government to be aware of this and still be willing to consider a no deal Brexit is absolute madness".

"Options for achieving that should not have been swept off the negotiating table, including being in a customs union with our largest trading partner".

Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Willie Rennie said: "The government's own research is now showing that Brexit will be an economic disaster for every part of the UK".

"The Tories are putting everything on the line because they do not care about the lives and livelihoods of the people of the UK".

The 8% figures for "no deal" was said to amount to Scotland's economy being £12.7bn a year worse off.

Ms McEntee told BBC Radio 4's Today programme: "So we need the UK Government, we need Theresa May and her team, to start looking at and to start I suppose letting us know what the proposals are coming from their side and what their options are".
