CNN reportedly boycotts White House's Christmas party

CNN is boycotting the White House Christmas party for the media a network spokesperson said on Tuesday

Global media firm, the Cable News Network (CNN) says it will be staying away from the White House Christmas party for the media following its ongoing feud with U.S. President Donald Trump.

Each year, the White House provides holiday tours and this year the theme is "Time-Honored Traditions".

Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders celebrated the news that CNN would not be attending, describing it as "Christmas [coming] early". "Wishing you a Merry Christmas & joyous holiday season!" she wrote on Twitter.

Melania Trump attended to "every detail" of the decorations, which took 150 volunteers 1,600 hours to prepare, says RT.

CNN is boycotting this year's White House Christmas party, it announced on Tuesday. Here's a bit of an open secret: You're just feeding into the White House's narrative. And she's now ringing in Christmas at the White House in an era when Dictionary.com's word of the year is "complicit".

Though in video of the event that was captured by Reuters the first lady can be seen smiling briefly as she greets the audience, in the most viral images she seems to stand awkwardly, immobile and unsmiling with her hands at her sides - an eerie image that immediatelyinspired comparisons to ghosts or creepy children in horror movies.

A display of candy as part of Christmas decorations are seen in the Red Room during a preview of holiday decorations at the White House in Washington, DC, November 27, 2017.

One thing that is different from the Obama administration; however, is the use of the words Merry Christmas.

No matter your opinion of Melania Trump, it's clear that her time in the White House so far has been marked by far more scrutiny than we're used to seeing visited upon a first lady. As well as a traditional Nativity Scene, she has deployed more than 1,000ft of garland on staircases, a 18ft 6in Christmas tree with ornaments representing each USA state and territory in the Blue Room, a Christmas tree made of books in the library and a hallway of winter trees.
