Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to Wednesday at Windsor Castle

St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle in Berkshire has been chosen as the venue for the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle

The source turns out to have been right: The pair are now officially set to Wednesday at Windsor Castle in May, meaning they're staying far clear of Westminster Abbey, which is usually the royal wedding venue of choice, as evidenced most recently by Kate Middleton and Prince William. Here's what we know so far about how the wedding will be different.

The exact date has not yet been revealed.

Ms Markle, a Protestant, is to be baptised and confirmed before the wedding day.

Harry's communication's secretary Jason Knauf said Windsor was a "very special place" for Harry, and that he and Meghan had spent time there together during their 16-month romance.

But Middleton's wedding, for example, drew a crowd of a million stretching from the abbey to Buckingham Palace, not to mention the 5,000 street parties that took place elsewhere across the United Kingdom.

"Windsor is a very special place for Prince Harry and he and Ms. Markle have regularly spent time there over the previous year and a half", Kensington Palace said in a statement. "Prince Harry and Ms Markle are delighted that the lovely grounds of Windsor Castle will be where they begin their lives together as a married couple".

Prince Harry and his fiancee also hope to allow members of the public to feel part of the celebrations and are considering how to make that happen.

"It will be a moment of fun and joy that will reflect the character of the bride and groom", their spokesman told journalists. We learned yesterday that Markle and Prince Harry's wedding will take place next spring, but Kensington Palace released a bulletin on Tuesday (November 28) offering more information. The couple will undertake their first joint engagement on Friday with a visit to Nottingham.

Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge said she is "absolutely thrilled" by Harry's engagement to Meghan, while Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall said she is "absolutely delighted".
