Police said they would have additional officers on duty.

The first incident they responded to was a report of shots fired in the Macy's parking lot around 10 p.m.

Shoppers getting an early start on Black Friday deals had their Thanksgiving trek to the Riverchase Galleria cut short when fights broke out in the mall.

According to Al.com, police closed the Riverchase Galleria mall in Hoover, AL at 11:20 p.m. on Thursday after responding to the brawls.

A video posted to Twitter shows security guards or police handcuffing shoppers as a merchandise table was flipped and punches were thrown near the store.

According to a report from KMIZ, a 19-year-old sustained life-threatening injuries after being shot in the neck around 1:30 am on Friday. The police and the fire department arrived shortly after. That reportedly sparked a second fight.

Police said the fight was of a personal nature, and not over sales. A 19-year-old man sustained life-threatening injuries during a shooting between two men who were sitting inside a vehicle when one of them tried to holster a gun, according to Columbia police.

No arrests were made.

A woman who appeared to be with the attacker claimed that the employee was the one who provoked the fight.

"We're going to be ready to squash anything", Hale said.
