Syria To Sign Paris Climate Pact, Leaving Only US Opposed

Flooding hits the Western side of Hong Kong close to the Central district after a torrential downpour 24 June 2005

A statement from the State Department this summer saying that the US had submitted its withdrawal request said the delegations would be sent to "ensure all future policy options remain open to the administration".

Syria plans to join the 2015 Paris agreement for slowing global warming, isolating the United States as the only country opposed to the pact, delegates said at UN climate negotiations in Germany. Nicaragua, which was one of the last holdouts, in September announced it would join the accord.

"I confirm that the Syrian Arab Republic supports the implementation of Paris climate change accord, in order to achieve the desired global goals and to reflect the principles of justice and shared responsibility, but in accordance with the capabilities of each of the signatories,"said Syria's Deputy Minister of Local Administration and Environment, M. Wadah Katmawi, according to CNN".

The brutal Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad.

Additionally, French authorities said President Donald Trump is not among more than 100 world leaders invited to Paris for a climate summit next month.

Trump said in June he would pull the United States out of the Paris Agreement, a process that will take effect in 2020, and instead promote coal and oil.

The summit aims at promoting green projects and providing new funding sources, a few weeks after separate talks that are now being held at a global climate conference in Bonn, Germany.

"If the government of Syria cared so much about what was put in the air, then it wouldn't be gassing its own people", she said, referring to the Damascus regime's brutal civil war tactics.

According to Trump, the Paris accord would have cost the United States 6.5mil jobs and US$3tn GDP in lost, whilst conveying that the accord favours economy rivals in China and India.

The U.S. may be No. 1, but that's also the loneliest number.

The US will soon become the only country that opposes the global landmark climate change accord known as the Paris Agreement.

France co-organizes the summit with the United Nations and the World Bank.
