Wind advisory issued Sunday for Lancaster County

Strong Winds & Heavy Rain May Lead to Power Issues

The blast of severe weather has prompted a series of alerts for counties throughout the region, including Cayuga. A Wind Advisory is also in effect for all of central and northeastern Pennsylvania.

A Flash Flood Watch has been issued for all of CT and is valid through Monday morning. A flash flood watch was put into effect beginning at 4 p.m. today and ending Monday at noon for portions of Jefferson, Lewis, Oswego and Cayuga counties. Scattered power outages will be possible. Gusts to 50 miles per hour are possible.

Power outages are a real concern, especially considering leaves are still on the trees.

CMP also reminds drivers to use caution when approaching utility crews.

Heavy rain will move into New England as the low passes right overhead from south to north tonight through Monday morning.

In the afternoon, the city will face the worst of the nor'easter: wind and rain will strengthen before the city sees downpours, flooding, and strong winds Sunday evening. "Street and stream flooding is likely due to the potential for 1"-3" statewide, with isolated 4" and 5" in some areas. The forecast is calling for mostly sunny weather Tuesday, with highs in the low 50s and temperatures cooling off to the mid-30s overnight.

"Wind will be gusty Monday, but not at the level of tonight".

When: Sunday through Monday morning. Most of our BIG wind events come from the northwest or northeast.

In addition, the weather service noted, strong winds can make driving hard - especially if you have a high-profile vehicle - in open areas and on elevated roads and bridges.
