Colin Kaepernick is shopping a book

Former San Francisco quarterback Colin Kaepernick reportedly signed a contract but not with the NFL. I expect that he will be invited to this meeting and we look forward to him joining the conversation. The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday in Manhattan.

Trump has pushed for the National Football League to forbid players to kneel but after a meeting between club owners and players last week, National Football League commission Roger Goodell would only go so far as to say it was the NFL's position that players "should" stand for the song.

Kaepernick was invited to last week's gathering in NY by the players coalition but has not yet attended any of the recent meetings with the league. Trump's Vice President Mike Pence left an Indianapolis Colts game after players from the opposing team, the 49ers, kneeled during the national anthem.

Lockhart acknowledged on Wednesday that the ongoing protests around the league have impacted the NFL's image. "There are bodies in the street, and people getting paid leave, and getting away with murder".

In October, Kaepernick filed a collusion grievance against NFL owners over his unemployment in the league. The president has spoken both directly and indirectly about Kaepernick on a number of occasions already, most notably making a thinly veiled reference to him as a kneeling "son of a bitch" in a speech in September.

Kaepernick drew national attention when he knelt during the anthem as a protest to denounce police brutality against African-Americans, social injustice and racial inequality. But his refusal to stand for the anthem to draw attention to police brutality and racial injustice became a far bigger story than his on-field performance, ultimately making him the target of bellicose rhetoric from United States president Donald Trump last month.

"We believe that we are". Since this instance Jenkins has become one of the more vocal players and one of the leaders in the activism movement spread across the NFL.
