Lupita Nyong'o Comes Forward With Her Own Harvey Weinstein Allegations

Weinstein-Allegations Timeline

Lupita Nyong'o just joined a long list of women accusing Harvey Weinstein of sexual misconduct. claiming he tried undressing in front of her in a bedroom.

It also prompted dozens of alleged victims of Weinstein's actions to come forward.

Weinstein's representative Sallie Hofmeister responded to these allegations, telling The Post in an email last week, "Mr. Weinstein obviously can't speak to anonymous allegations, but with respect to any women who have made allegations on the record, Mr. Weinstein believes that all of those relationships were consensual".

An attorney says he will detail allegations by an Italian actress and model who has told police disgraced film mogul Harvey Weinstein raped her in a Los Angeles hotel room in 2013. Dinner followed, with her friends relegated to a non-Harvey table. Lupita claims several months later, she was invited by Weinstein to join him at his family home in CT for a screening of a film. Nyong'o ordered juice to drink, but Weinstein insisted on ordering her vodka and diet soda, and continued to pressure her to drink the cocktail, though she refused.

"Every once in a while, we say we need to discuss the problems with racial issues and we don't, so I somewhat fear that after the headlines fade... it won't change things", Leeds told ABC News of the Weinstein backlash.

At his home later that day, Weinstein led her into his bedroom and said he wanted to give Nyong'o a massage, she wrote. In an attempt to gain control of the situation, she says she offered to give him a massage instead - a recurring practice during body work sessions at drama school, which is how Nyong'o now says she rationalized keeping "a semblance of professionalism in spite of the weird circumstance".

Part of the reason sexual harassment has run rampant in Hollywood, she says, is that intimacy is ingrained into the work. "The easiest thing to take away from a woman is her work", she said. Before the starters arrived, he announced: "Let's cut to the chase". Nyong'o met him and exchanged contact information in the hopes of landing a role in one of his future projects.

She says that she managed to turn him down, and left without eating.

After coming forward, Leeds said, her children guarded her from the negative reactions. I think there will be a lot more stories that will come up. "I have a private room upstairs where we can have the rest of our meal". The Oscar-winning actress, who was still in college at Yale for many of these encounters, said at the time she did not know how pervasive the problem was. "He then dragged me to the bathroom and forcibly raped me". "You have no idea what you are passing up", he said. Nyong'o told him no, and was successfully able to extricate herself from the situation. "I was entering into a business where the intimate is often professional and so the lines are blurred".

"There is going to be - righteously, I think - a pause in the discussion for the women to be heard, meaning that perhaps all men, myself included, should pipe down and not try to explain it, and not try to comment on it, certainly not try to defend it or even try to prosecute it".

"Though we may have endured powerlessness at the hands of Harvey Weinstein, by speaking up, speaking out and speaking together, we regain that power", Nyong'o wrote.
