Olivier Giroud: Arsenal 'owe' Europa League win to goalkeeper Petr Cech

Michael Owen claims this Arsenal player will score against Everton

In Arsenal's Europa League encounter away at Red Star Belgrade, the score read 0-0 until Giroud scored the opening goal in the 85th minute which eventually turned out to be the match victor.

The character of Arsenal's players was questioned after they let slip a lead to lose 2-1 at Watford on Saturday, with Hornets striker Troy Deeney saying the Gunners lacked "cojones". From the resulting corner Boakye headed against the crossbar.

Arsenal's next Europa league game is on November 2nd at the Emirates again against Red Star. Nemanja Radonjic was found at the back post and his volley was well saved by Petr Cech before Reiss Nelson blocked the rebound. They had a really good chance to break the deadlock with players lining up in the box to put it away.

Following a typical pre-match offering, Red Star's fans bucked tradition and unfurled another huge banner for the start of the second half, but it could not lift the stodgy fare on the pitch.

Giroud got himself on the scoresheet with another sensational strike. Mohamed Elneny, playing in a three-man defence, almost gifted Red Star a goal.

The home side were reduced to ten men at the 80-minute mark and Arsenal took full advantage of the extra man.

In the last ten minutes, Rodic was sent off after a coming together with Francis Coquelin, which made the task even harder for the Serbian minnows. Hopefully then, most of the action will be at the other end and with a strong attack of Walcott and Giroud with Jack Wilshere to create chances we should have plenty of potency up front. An absolutely fantastic team goal which was reminiscent of THAT goal v Norwich.

The goal livened up what had been a dire game and saw Arsenal strengthen their grip on Europa League Group H by maintaining their 100% record in the tournament.
