Inaugurating the ayurveda hospital, meanwhile, Mr Modi said the government was working towards the setting up of such hospitals in each district of the country. "Those nations who leave their heritage behind are destined to lose their identity", he said. "I urge them not take a step back but talk more about the benefits of the Indian medicine among patients and community", Dr. Laxma Reddy said.

He also highlighted that Companions, Ayurveda is not just a medical practice.

Modi said that people across the world are going back to nature, and it won't be hard to evolve atmosphere of ayurveda in such times He added that people are attracted to not only good health but also wellness and there is a need to strengthen ayurveda.

Addressing a gathering after dedicating the country's first All India Institute of Ayurveda to the nation here, the prime minister pitched for affordable and accessible healthcare for the poor on "Ayurveda Day" today.

The institute is modelled on the lines of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and is set up under the Ministry of AYUSH.


"The idea is to popularise integrated medicine system".

He also said, "Yoga and Ayurveda are important for our security forces just like sports. Yoga and Ayurveda can be very effective in removing mental stress, increasing concentration, strengthening the immune system of our soldiers".

Indirectly hitting at Congress, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday criticised the previously ruling party for sidelining the Indian heritage since the independence of the country.

He said cleanliness is a simple mechanism of preventive healthcare and the Union government has got 5 crore toilets built in three years.

Noting that people across the world are becoming increasingly attracted to health and wellness, the prime minister suggested that time was ripe for an atmosphere of Ayurveda to develop.

"The farming of medicinal plants will give new employment opportunities", said PM Modi.
