Tillerson Reassures Corker: "I'm Fully Intact"

Bob Corker said Trump had'publicly castrated Tillerson

"The President has also made clear to me that he wants this solved diplomatically", Tillerson said.

At the beginning of the month Trump took to Twitter, saying that Tillerson was wasting his time trying to negotiate with North Korea's leader Kim Jong Un, whom Trump referred to as "Little Rocket Man".

"You can not publicly castrate your own secretary of state without giving yourself that binary choice", Corker told the Washington Post in a phone interview Friday.

The US ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley pushed the same argument during appearances on Sunday talk shows, telling ABC's This Week that reevaluating the Iran deal "sends the ideal message to North Korea, which is, we're not going to engage in a bad deal".

U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said Sunday his diplomatic efforts will continue as long as they possibly can despite the saber-rattling on both sides of the Pacific.

"As I indicated earlier when I was asked about that, I'm not going to deal with that kind of petty stuff", Tillerson told CNN's Jake Tapper on "State of the Union" on Sunday.

"I checked, I'm fully intact", Tillerson replied.

"Well, at the end of the day, I think Secretary Tillerson gave a good overview of the relationship", Graham told CBS. "And so everything that I have witnessed, all was fine", she said. Tax plan puts swing-state Republicans in tough spot MORE (R-Tenn.), added additional fuel to the speculated tension between Trump and Tillerson in an interview with The Washington Post on Friday, in which he said Trump is trying to "publicly castrate" Tillerson. "He used unconventional techniques to motivate change", Tillerson said. I go out and do the best I can to execute those decisions successfully.

People close to Trump say the president has grown increasingly dissatisfied with Tillerson, whom Trump views as holding a conventional view of America's role in the world and lacking star power.

"And I can tell you who is going to win", Trump told Forbes magazine. Yet when Trump publicly says the man in charge of representing his administration overseas "is wasting his time" on diplomacy everyone starts to doubt him. "But it's the first part" - the "castration" of Tillerson - "that I am most exercised about".
