'Lukaku is fit' - Belgium to risk Man Utd wrath following Fellaini blow

Manchester United star Paul Pogba suffered a hamstring injury

With Liverpool having not kept a league clean sheet since August, Manchester United have been handed a boost as star striker, Romelu Lukaku has been passed 100% fit for Belgium's final World Cup Qualifier against Cyprus on Tuesday.

"It was a very unfortunate injury for Marouane".

United are now second in the table, behind neighbours Manchester City on goal difference, and seven points ahead of Liverpool.

Fellaini had to be taken off 30 minutes into Belgium's 4-3 World Cup qualifying win over Bosnia and Herzegovina with boss Roberto Martinez admitting fears the midfielder had suffered ligament damage after the match.

Belgium have already secured their place in Russian Federation next summer after finishing top in Group H and Martinez may opt to rest his first-choice striker against Cyprus.

Speaking ahead of tonight's qualifier against Cyprus, Martinez said: "Marouane, it has been confirmed that he has got ligament damage".

Mourinho's men will be desperate to win against their fierce rivals Liverpool on Saturday, as United look to build upon their impressive start to the 2017/18 Premier League campaign - winning six out of seven of their opening matches.

The Premier League returns on Saturday with an absolutely epic match.

The 25-year-old has formed a strong defensive partnership with Eric Bailly this season and Mourinho will be anxious that he makes the weekend trip to Anfield.

The Red Devils won an epic global match 4-3 but having already qualified, Jose Mourinho can say with some accuracy that his player should not have been involved.

Romelu Lukaku arrived at Manchester United this summer with a weight of expectation on his shoulders.

United manager Jose Mourinho had voiced concerns over how the worldwide break could stall his side's momentum ahead of next Saturday's high-profile clash against Liverpool at Anfield and a mounting injury list will only dampen his mood.

Michael Carrick is selected to pick a pass, Ryan Giggs' career "speaks for itself" and Paul Pogba is charged with the task of going "box-to-box".
