Sen. Lindsey Graham: We'll get the votes for Obamacare repeal bill

Sen. John McCain says he'll vote 'no,' deals blow to latest Republican health care bill

With Senate GOP leaders just one "no" vote away from defeat, Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, and McCain. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) and Sen.

Paul also dismissed the notion that he could be convinced to back Cassidy-Graham if he was promised something on another front that nodded to his libertarian positions on matters of military action, where he routinely pushes for more congressional oversight.

The Senate faces a September 30 deadline for deciding on the bill under an expiring rule that lets the healthcare proposal pass with just a simple majority, instead of the 60-vote threshold needed for most legislation.

Still, the White House isn't expected to lay off.

The Texas Republican said he and Lee discussed the measure with its sponsors - GOP Sens. It sets up a perpetual food fight over the formula.

McCain's opposition to the Republican attempts to reform the ACA has been a sore point for many Republicans as they have campaigned on the issue for eight years. Rand Paul, R-Tenn., said he planned to vote "no", calling the bill "Obamacare lite" and Collins' spokesperson said in a statement that she is "leaning no". "I have a number of serious reservations about it". John McCain R-Ariz., on Friday night during his unhinged rally in Alabama, and again on Twitter the next morning, after the senator said he would not vote in favor of the latest Senate Republican health care bill. "They know if they want me, they're going to have to make the bill more of a repeal bill and less of a "we're going to divvy up the pie to Republicans" bill".

This time McCain issued a statement well in advance of next week's expected vote.

The other swing votes are Sens. "And that's what we should be doing", said Collins. She has not indicated which way she plans to vote, but her state's independent governor has come out against the bill.

Gov. Paul LePage joined Vice President Mike Pence in Washington Friday.

"I'm concerned about the impact on cost and coverage", she said. "So it may be hard for the CBO to do the kind of in-depth analysis that it usually does, but that's what I would like to see before making a formal decision". Before the Affordable Care Act, insurers could deny coverage to people with diseases like diabetes or charge them much higher premiums. Then, the vice president would cast the final 51st vote. "I would consider supporting legislation similar to that offered by my friends Senators Graham and Cassidy were it the product of extensive hearings, debate and amendment". Far from it. The bill's authors are my dear friends, and I think the world of them. The South Carolina Republican mentioned Collins and Paul as he made his pitch.

"All of those could be in a bill, and you could pass that. We put a cap on Obamacare growth".

Collins was on CBS' "Face the Nation" and CNN's "State of the Union", Graham appeared on ABC's "This Week" and Paul was on NBC's "Meet the Press", and Short was on CBS, NBC and "Fox News Sunday". "But I'm just not for this block granting concept because it is affirmative vote that I have agreed to keep Obamacare". It would also dramatically cut Medicaid spending over time.

Cruz said he doesn't think fellow conservative Sen. "I'm for Trump, and if Trump's for unusual, then I'm for odd", he said.

Eyes are also on Alaska Sen.

Challenger Roy Moore is an anti-establishment favorite, backed by many of Trump's most prominent supporters - including Ben Carson, Trump's HUD Secretary.

If Moore defeats unusual, it will be a blow to both McConnell and Trump, who have rallied their powerful political operations behind odd.

"We should not be content to pass health care legislation on a party-line basis, as Democrats did when they rammed Obamacare through Congress in 2009". Even the bill's champions have already started pondering the prospect of failure.

The groups say, "Health care is too important to get wrong".
