Trump considering holding DC military parade on July 4th

Inflation slump to hit in early 2018 ECB

U.S. President Donald Trump, offering more words of praise for French counterpart Emmanuel Macron, said on Monday he was considering staging a July 4 U.S. military parade in Washington inspired by the one he saw as Macron's guest in Paris.

Mr Trump admitted yesterday to President Macron of France that he had not appreciated "what great warriors" the homeland of Napoléon Bonaparte and Lafayette had produced.

Trump, 71, and Macron, 39, who both took office this year as political outsiders, got off to an awkward start with a now-famous handshake in May during they which they gripped each other's right hand so firmly their knuckles turned white. "It was 2 hours on the button and was military might", Trump said, according to a pool report.

The Pentagon might have vetoed Donald Trump's interest in parading us military vehicles across the streets of Washington during his inauguration festivities.

"Mostly because of what I've witnessed, I'm thinking about doing something like this on July 4 in Washington, Pennsylvania Avenue", the U.S. president said.

Macron told Trump "our people" were proud to have him and First Lady Melania Trump visit on Bastille Day.

"At Bastille Day, one of the greatest parades I've ever seen. That doesn't mean we agree on everything, but we do agree on a lot of things". We're gonna have to try and top [Bastille Day parade]...

Emails obtained by The Huffington Post showed Trump's staff asked the Pentagon about including military tactical vehicles in his inaugural parade.

The US does not have a history of major military parades marching through its cities, except to celebrate wartime victories. "Having a really great parade to show our military strength..."

It's perhaps unsurprising, then, that President Trump would be so keen on organizing such parades, as he's seen both fascinated by America's military might and eager to prove America's greatness in the least-subtle ways possible. The parade usually includes military vehicles and flyovers, and Trump was visibly happy during the event.
