PSG to face UEFA FFP investigation following Neymar and Mbappe transfers

The striker shared a joke with Layvin Kurzawa- who is set to become his team-mate at PSG

Paris Saint-Germain have pulled off their latest coup in the transfer market by completing the signing of Kylian Mbappe from Monaco.

Like many other clubs in this insane transfer window, PSG have circumvented the rules by securing Mbappe on a season-long loan, and are to make the deal permanent next summer for a whopping 180 million euros ($214 million).

The loan may allow PSG time to stay within financial fair play (FFP) regulations, which allow a club only a €30m deficit.

"The investigation will focus on the compliance of the club with the break-even requirement, particularly in light of its recent transfer activity", UEFA added.

The Uefa statement said the investigatory chamber " will regularly meet in order to carefully evaluate all documentation pertaining to this case".

"The club is surprised [due to] the fact that it has constantly kept the UEFA Financial Fair Play teams informed of the impact of all player operations carried out this summer [and] were obliged to do so".

UEFA's Club Financial Control Body monitors all clubs as a matter of course but still made a point to announce the investigation into PSG and said the summer acquisitions were behind their move.

PSG now have the deepest attacking force in the world, with Mbappe joining Neymar, Edinson Cavani, Angel Di Maria, Julian Draxler, Javier Pastore and Lucas Moura. Some within Uefa are thought to have wanted to ban PSG from the Champions League then, but they were not a majority. "I think the project is ideal for me to progress and to continue to learn at the highest level", he said. It will argue with justification that the signing of Neymar, in particular, and now Mbappe has hugely raised the profile and interest in the club and is attracting commercial partners.

Mbappe, who was born in a Paris suburb, burst onto the world stage last season, scoring 26 goals and making 14 assists in all competitions for Monaco, helping the club win the French league title and reach the Champions League semi-finals.

The French club shattered the previous global transfer record earlier in August when they splashed out a staggering 222 million euros to prise the Brazilian superstar away from Barcelona.

The 18-year-old striker was the subject of intense transfer speculation all summer but has finally joined his hometown club, initially on loan but with the club having a compulsory purchase clause in the deal that means he will arrive on a permanent basis next summer.

PSG have been sanctioned for breaking FFP regulations previously in 2014 after it was found that a sponsorship deal with Qatar was of insufficient value, per CNN.
