"After a couple of minutes when I gained my senses, I saw some people injured", Hanif said. The bullet-riddled bodied were moved to the morgue for autopsy.

The police official said that explosives were hidden in the truck which accidentally triggered around 9pm.

It should be noted that Lahore has been hit twice within around two weeks. The blast took place at Bund road area.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack and it was not clear whether the militants killed were responsible for Monday's bomb blast but police officials said that they were not ruling out a connection.

The deceased identified as Amanat Ali, is said to have been the resident of Kamoke.

Last month 26 people, including nine policemen, were killed while 58 others were injured in a bombing attack near the Arfa Karim IT Tower on Lahore's Ferozepur Road.

The latest blast put a big question mark on the ongoing police operations in Lahore.

The roof of a nearby house also collapsed from the intensity of the explosion, while the windowpanes of nearby buildings shattered from the shock waves.

The blast also triggered a power-cut as high voltage electric wires too were damaged.

According to eyewitnesses, it was a powerful blast which damaged, partially or heavily, more than 100 vehicles, such as cars, mini-trucks and motorcycles parked at the stand.

Officials said a huge cache of explosives had been stored in the truck. "The electricity supply has been restored in the area".

Following Monday's bombing, police security has been heightened across the provincial metropolis with massive security sweep involving police commandoes and paramilitary troops to hunt down suspected elements.
