Teenage boy jumps from plane that landed at San Francisco airport

Teen detained after jumping from plane at SFO

The incident happened at 2.30pm Tuesday after the Copa Airlines Flight 208 had just landed at the San Francisco International Airport from Panama City.

Passengers said the teen seemed fidgety and anxious throughout the flight that he acted so quickly, no one had a chance to stop him. Yakel said the teen is a USA citizen and was traveling alone.

"We just landed and then I hear some people scream ... like, 'No!'" said 11-year-old passenger Andrea Sepulveda Guzman, who was on the plane. Watch ABC7 News at 4 p.m. for the latest details on this developing story.

Witnesses said it was a typical landing until the emergency door opened and the plane filled with sunlight.

A teen in San Francisco on Tuesday chose to take one of the worst unaddressed problems of air travel into his own hands: You can never get off the dang plane fast enough. And then he just starts running the other way. "The door's open. Someone jumped off, '" passenger Matt Crowder told KNTV.

'They were yelling "tell the flight attendants, relay the message back, the door's open, someone jumped off",' Crowder told the television station.

Copa Airlines said in a statement a crew member closed the emergency door and the plane continued on to the gate, where the remaining passengers exited without incident, according to CBS San Francisco. 'It was pretty insane'. "We are cooperating fully with the relevant authorities to support the ongoing investigation".

The teenager, who has not been named, then slid down the wing onto the tarmac after it landed on Tuesday.
