Wiz Khalifa Officially Has The Most Viewed Video In YouTube History

Gangnam Style

The music video has ousted Psy's "Gangnam Style" as the most-watched video on YouTube.

See You Again has been viewed more than 2.9 billion times since the video was posted on Wiz Khalifa's YouTube channel on April 6, 2015.

November 24th, 2012: The ultimate triumph: the video overtakes Justin Bieber's "Baby" to become most-viewed video on YouTube, a perch it has sat atop since that very day.

"See You Again", from the movie "Furious 7", hit 2,894,026,649 on July 10, the video streamer said in a statement.

It was written as a tribute to actor Paul Walker, who died while filming the seventh installment in the "Fast and Furious" franchise. He had been a smash success in South Korea, but "Gangnam Style" really gave his career in America a huge push and led to far too many covers and parody videos.

A number of other songs are gaining on the second place slot now held by "Gangnam Style", though closest competitor - Justin Bieber's "Sorry" - is still more than 200 million plays away from reaching it. It became the first video to clock one billion views on YouTube in December of 2012, and the first video to reach two billion views in May of 2014.

The video has almost 2.9 billion views.

Released in March 2015, the song features vocals from Charlie Puth and Black and Yellow hitmaker Khalifa. For Example, Luis Fonsi Despacito was released at the start of this year and it already has more than 2.5 billion views.

Wiz Khalifa has made history with his sentimental balled See You Again.

The song was the top single from the "Furious 7" movie soundtrack, and commercial mega-hit, selling more than 4 million copies in the United States. Uptown Funk by Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars is at Number 4.
