United Kingdom police: Others may be at large in Manchester attack

People attend a vigil for the victims of an attack at a pop concert at Manchester Arena in central Manchester Britain

He was detained "on suspicion of offenses contrary to the Terrorism Act", the Greater Manchester Police says.

A man has been arrested in connection with the Manchester Arena terror attack in May.

Investigators said on Thursday that although Abedi was not part of a terrorist network there were others who knew he was planning to detonate a substantial nail bomb at the Manchester Arena concert.

Detective Chief Superintendent Russ Jackson, head of the North West Counter Terrorism Unit (NWCTU), said yesterday that while detectives do not now think Abedi was part of a large network, they do suspect the involvement of others in the attack which had been planned for months.

"We are still working to understand the manner by which he became radicalised", Jackson told reporters at Greater Manchester Police headquarters this week.

And Mr Jackson did not rule out further arrests.

Officers and the Crown Prosecution Service are now speaking with the Libyan authorities.

Police have found that Manchester bomber Salman Abedi was essentially financing his life with student loans, a recent report by The Sun details.

"Undated handout photo from an unnamed source made available on Wednesday May 24, 2017 of Salman Abedi. ï"¿ï"¿British authorities identified Salman Abedi as the bomber who was responsible for Monday's explosion in Manchester which killed more than 20 people.

On the day of the bombing, Abedi spent several hours carrying the bomb, packed with nuts and bolts, though central Manchester before detonating it in the foyer of the arena as the Grande concert was ending.
