Toronto woman gives chilling account of night with Bill Cosby

Bill Cosby arrives for his sexual assault trial at the Montgomery County Courthouse in Norristown Pa. Monday

Andrea Constand, who had stuck up a friendship with Mr Cosby, said she accepted the blue pills after the comedian told her they were herbal supplements that would help her to relax.

Ms Constand, 44, was director of basketball operations at Temple University, where Mr Cosby served on the board of trustees at the time of the alleged assault in January 2004.

Patricia Sewell said her daughter told her that Cosby had given her a pill and assaulted her in his Los Angeles hotel room.

"I don't know what that means", Ms Constand said.

"I don't condone sexual assault in any way, shape or form, but, at the end of the day, our court system is set up ... you're innocent until proven guilty..." she said.

The pioneering American black actor faces three counts of aggravated indecent assault, with each carrying a maximum sentence of 10 years in jail and a US$25,000 (S$34,500) fine. They also indicated she called lawyers specializing in civil litigation before reporting the alleged assault to police.

Despite Cosby's actions, Constand said she did not feel threatened.

Constand also reportedly said Cosby had made advances at her in the past, having put a hand on her thigh and, on another occasion, tried to undress her before withdrawing when she said "I'm not here for that". Under a settlement Constand and Cosby reached in 2006, Constand was prohibited from speaking publicly about her accusation.

When she awoke in the morning, Mr Cosby gave her tea and a muffin.

The woman at the centre of Bill Cosby's criminal sex assault trial was left "humiliated" and "confused" after his alleged 2004 attack, a court has heard. She testified she had responded that she did not.

Cosby had earlier arrived at the courthouse in Norristown, Philadelphia, for the third day of his trial accompanied by actress Sheila Frazier, who starred with him in the 1978 comedy California Suite.

Constand did file a lawsuit in 2005 shortly after prosecutors initially decided not to bring a case against Cosby.

The 79-year-old actor's life and legacy are on the line when his accuser takes the stand. "I felt Mr. Cosby's hand groping my breasts under my shirt".

Lawyer Joseph Miller testified at Cosby's trial on in suburban Philadelphia Tuesday that his notes show Kelly Johnson told him the encounter happened in May 1990.

After that conversation, she said, she bought a recording device in hopes that Cosby would again confess to harming her daughter. That account comes from Variety, which adds that Cosby claimed "he would never ask her to do anything that would be harmful".

Constand's complaint is the only one that has come to trial.

Constand said that, after she took the pills, Cosby led her to the couch and she lost consciousness. "I wanted it to stop", Constand said. "I don't want that", Time magazine reported.

She returned the next evening and asked what the pills had been but did not get an answer. He said Ms Johnson made the disclosure while pursuing a claim that she had developed debilitating stress from her secretarial job at the William Morris Agency.

The Associated Press does not typically identify people who say they are sexual assault victims unless they grant permission, which Constand and Johnson have done.
