Bruno Mars to open BET Awards

Nydjlive.com has reported that Ghana's only nominee for this year's BET awards, Stonebwoy lost out on the Best International Act category to Nigerian Afrobeats singer, Wizkid.

Due to his tour schedule, earlier this year for the Billboard Awards, Mars was forced to pre-record his "Versace on the Floor" performance from one of his many tour stops, but thankfully he'll be present and accounted for at the BET Awards tonight at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. In April 2017, BET International launched The New Edition Story, a three-part miniseries that was also BET's first scripted music-focused program.

The show will air live on BET. "Joy, joy, joy ... that's what I want you all to write about the show". Also, "Amazulu" hitmaker Amanda Black and Tanzanian performer Ray Vanny are nominated for Viewer's Choice Award "Best International Act", in conjunction with performers from the UK, South Korea, Canada, Australia and Jamaica.

The 2017 nominations are being led by Beyonce who has been named in seven categories.

Mars has been on an R&B adventure with his latest album, "24K Magic", which was inspired by '90s R&B.

Video of the year will see Migos' popular tune "Bad and Bougee" compete against Big Sean's "Bounce Back", Beyoncé's, "Sorry", Solange's "Cranes in the Sky" and Bruno Mars' "24k Magic". How did our fave Cardi B. get nominated for BET's Nicki Minaj Award, aka "Best Female Hip Hop Artist" when you know they're just going to give it to Nicki! The show will also be available to view on YouTube, and fans with cable provider logins can live stream the show on the BET Now app.

Presenters include Jamie Foxx, Queen Latifah, Trevor Noah, Jada Pinkett Smith, Issa Rae and Yara Shahidi.

New Edition will be honoured with a Lifetime Achievement prize at the big bash, while Chance the Rapper will be handed the Humanitarian Award.
