White House communications director resigns amid tensions

Trump Says the Trade Deficit With Germany Is ‘Very Bad’ – but Is It Really?

Ahead of the briefing, White House communications director Michael Dubke announced his plans to leave the job. He later added: "It's an ongoing conversation, and that's a fair way to put it".

While the White House claims this new bit of information is another round of "false and unverified claims", it doesn't look good for the President Donald Trump camp.

A midnight tweet from President Donald Trump has social media trying to find a meaning in the mysterious term "covfefe".

"He has expressed his desire to leave the White House and made very clear that he would see through the president's worldwide trip", White House adviser Kellyanne Conway said in an interview on Fox News, referring to Trump's first overseas trip to the Middle East and Europe that ended on Saturday.

"Mike will assist with the transition and be a strong advocate for the president and the president's policies moving forward", Priebus said.

Trump hired Kasowitz last week to lead a legal team focused on steering the President through the various investigations into Russia's election meddling.

Dubke's departure comes amid widespread speculation that a larger shakeup within Trump's communications team is imminent, as the looming crisis involving investigations into the Trump Administration's possible collusion with Russian Federation to rig the 2016 election appears to acquire new revelatory details with each passing week.

The communications operation - and Dubke and Spicer specifically - have come under sharp criticism from Trump and many senior officials in the West Wing, who believe the president has been poorly served by his staff, in particular in the aftermath of the Comey firing.

The intent was to connect Trump's chief national security adviser at the time, Michael Flynn, with Russian military leaders, a person familiar with the discussions told the AP.

Flynn handed in his resignation in February, ousted on grounds that he had misled top White House officials about his contacts with Russian officials.

The White House has refused to confirm the claims made by the intelligence sources, telling CNN that its report "is yet another round of false and unverified claims made by anonymous sources to smear the [president]".

Trump is also struggling with his legislative agenda.

Daily White House briefings have been dominated by questions about Russian Federation, and Trump's advisers feared the controversy could seep into Trump's foreign trip if he held a news conference. "Very bad for U.S. This will change".
