Ronaldo's double puts Real on verge of La Liga title

An insatiable Cristiano Ronaldo fired Real Madrid to a 4-1 win over Celta Vigo yesterday to take Zinedine Zidane's side three points clear at the top of La Liga and within touching distance of winning a first league title in five years.

Madrid play their final league game off the campaign against Malaga on Sunday, and that gives Isco an opportunity to win his first league title in his home town, something he said would be special.

"We still have one game to go", Ronaldo said.

Los Blancos will win La Liga if they are victorious against mid-table Malaga in their final game of the season on Sunday (May 21). Physically we are all in very good shape and looking forward to tomorrow's match. We played very well today, but we showed we are in good form and feeling confident.

"But I am doing well and helping the team with goals at the moment, so I am happy".

The Frenchman went with the same side that withstood an Atletico Madrid revival to book their place in the Champions League final a week ago.

Cristiano Ronaldo kicks to score the opener.

"Misses aren't normal for me, but I'm human and I can miss sometimes". We are not going to relax. "We have two matches to play, two finals, and then it's all over in the league".

Steve Bloomer (317) Bloomer, who was interned in a prison camp during World War One, never played overseas, instead scoring all of his goals for Derby - in two spells - and Middlesbrough. This is a hard place to come and it was a tough game. "But the last game maybe will be even more hard than today".

But Ronaldo somehow managed to put too much power into his strike, scuffing it inches wide of the far post, with supporters in the ground barely believing what their eyes had just seen. They'll do their best not to get a card. A draw or win, just avoid a loss, and Real wins it. Danilo especially had a hard game at right-back and was limping after a knock late on, so it would be no surprise if Nacho comes into the XI in Malaga.
