'Big Bang Theory' Prequel 'Young Sheldon': See the First Look

CBS revealed its fall schedule hours before its upfront presentation Wednesday.

CBS is adding three comedies and a trio of dramas to its fall lineup, led by Big Bang Theory prequel Young Sheldon, which will follow the original on Thursday nights, SEAL Team, a military drama starring David Boreanaz (Bones), and a remake of 1970s series S.W.A.T. starring former Criminal Minds star Shemar Moore.

Set in 1989, the show will be narrated by Jim Parsons AKA the original Sheldon, and will star Iain Armitage, who is now starring in Sky Atlantic's Big Little Lies, as Young Sheldon, the boy genius who skipped four grades to start high school at the same time as his older, football-playing brother. On September 25, Young Sheldon will have a special Monday premiere at 8:30 p.m. following the season premiere of The Big Bang Theory, and then move to its regular Thursday time period on November 2.

Monday: 8:00 p.m. "The Big Bang Theory", "Kevin Can Wait" (starting October 30) 8:30 p.m.

Moonves pointed out that, for the first time, less than 50% of the network's revenue comes from advertising, with most of it coming from CBS-owned shows airing on other platforms.

CBS detailed its plans for the 2017-18 season Wednesday as part of the week's broadcast network presentations to advertisers in NY. With network entertainment president Glenn Geller out on medical leave, Leslie Moonves, CBS chairman and CEO, and Kelly Kahl, CBS senior executive VP of primetime, shared the schedule and fielded press questions.

CBS' midseason shows include "Instinct", a drama starring Alan Cumming as a former Central Intelligence Agency operative who is lured back to his old life when the NYPD needs his help to stop a serial killer, and "By the Book", a comedy about a man who tries to live his life in accordance with the Bible. "Me, Myself & I" slides to 9, and the comedy "Superior Donuts" rejoins the schedule in the 9:30 slot.

WEDNESDAY: 8, Survivor; 9, Seal Team; 10, Criminal Minds.

CBS's Friday begins with time period victor MacGyver at 8 p.m., followed by Hawaii Five-0.

Tuesdays have NCIS, Bull and NCIS: New Orleans.

He defended CBS' track record, noting the network has the most female viewers, and cited his returning shows "Madam Secretary" and "Elementary", both of which are both fronted by female stars.
