Just Kidding, Timeless Isn't Canceled After All

Timeless Renewed for Season Two! NBC Reverses Cancellation Decision

Deadline has reported that according to co-creator Eric Kripke, they are working on finding another network that will pick up their time-travel series. Timeless is no longer canceled despite it looking that way days ago.

"It's true! NBC heard from the fans, went back in time and changed history!" Initially thought #Timeless would be on next summer, now it may be 2018 spring.

The Hollywood Reporter followed up on Kripke's announcement to confirm that Timeless will air a second season with NBC in summer 2018 and to dish a few details on why the network changed its mind.

Here's some good news for Timeless fans. The Shawn Ryan-Eric Kripke drama did not get a full-season pickup, with NBC instead opting for a 16-episode season. Their sources say that Sony Pictures Television "had been offering the lion's share of the profits to NBC in exchange for the renewal" since they "believe in the show's creative and that it has a solid chance to be a long-running, family-friendly franchise". Recent remarks at TCA press tours by network execs, however, had given hope to producers, cast, and viewers alike that Timeless season 2 would happen. "Can't wait to show you more".

NBC also ordered a new season of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit on Friday, and renewed Chicago Fire, Chicago PD and Chicago Med on Wednesday. The first season of Timeless was NBC's no. 6-rated drama. Since canceled are Frequency, Time After Time and Making History.

"I just wanted to hop on and tell you that I think the mission was successful", Lanter reveals in character as his Timeless alter-ego Wyatt Logan.

Perhaps the most active denouncement of NBC's decision to cut Timeless came from Saturday Night Live's Leslie Jones.
