Severe weather expected Wednesday evening to Thursday morning

Temperature

There is a 10 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 5 p.m.

Meteorologists predict the line of storms will weaken overnight.

The focus of the severe weather will be in areas south and east of I- 35, the weather service said.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued by the National Weather Service for the following counties: Autauga, Bibb, Chilton, Dallas, Greene, Hale, Jefferson, Marengo, Perry, Shelby, Sumter, and Tuscaloosa counties.

Active weather to the west: A significant severe weather outbreak develops on Wednesday west of the Tennessee Valley: centered on Arkansas and Missouri.

Rain and wind are expected to hit the area around 6 p.m.

Thunderstorms will be on the increase perhaps as soon as late Wednesday morning over the northwest edge of the area. Storms will push east of the region this afternoon as a cold front sweeps through the area.

We warm into the mid 80s tomorrow and upper 80s Saturday, with a mix of sun and clouds both days.

Heavy rain will be the main concern, but a few severe storms will be possible too as we head into Friday night.

"Primary severe threats are very large hail and damaging wind gusts". Conditions will be mostly cloudy with a high near 75.

The highest risk for severe weather will be west of I-65, but anywhere across southern IN and central Kentucky could see a severe storm.

Winds will be powerful out of the north at around 20 to 25 miles per hour.

The next best chance of rain will arrive with a stronger front later in the day on Sunday and continue into Monday.

More rain is possible Thursday night, Friday night and Saturday, forecasters said.
