Two late bogeys hurt Charley Hull at halfway point of ANA Inspiration

Jutanugarn appeared to play herself out of contention with three bogeys in five holes early in the third round, but the Thai star rallied back with three birdies and a spectacular eagle in the final eight holes on the course where she blew a two-shot lead with three holes to play previous year. We went through a lot of putters, and yeah, I felt really good about it coming into the season. She has previously held the 36-hole lead six times on the LPGA and collected a trophy on half those occasions.

She eventually dropped back a few shots, but she started the third round just one shot behind Lexi Thompson.

She was asked her expectations for Sunday.

Speaking after her round, Thompson remained focused ahead of the final day, saying, "I'm just going to focus on tomorrow, focus on one shot at a time, relax out there between shots, and just focus on doing my routine, visualizing my shots out there".

She admitted that the early return to the course to complete the round was briefly a cause for concern, but she found her putting stroke and said she wasn't anxious about playing another 18 holes in the afternoon.

Wie had back-to-back birdies at the second and third but couldn't build on that.

The player who first contended at this championship at age 13 actually looks like she's enjoying herself inside the ropes. Such conditions meant a long day for the contestants, who will tee it up for the third round starting at 2:15 p.m. ET.

"I was holing a couple more putts today, so it was nice", said Lee.

She only managed one more - on the par five 11th - but otherwise had to settle for par the rest of her way around. Last year, playing with an injured left thumb, she skipped the U.S. Women's Open and the Ricoh Women's British Open to get healthy for the Olympics, where she won gold. Her scoring average in the last four ANA Inspirations, including this one, is 69.13.

Ko had a better round with her putter, only needing 27 putts compared to the 31 required in the first two rounds, but that could be put down to her struggles in hitting greens in regulation.

"Towards the end of my second round, I was getting a little exhausted", said world No. 1 Lydia Ko, who sat three shots off the lead at 4-under 140 after playing 31 holes Friday. Rookie 18-year-old Nelly Korda (69-69) is seven-under through her last 27 holes and six-under overall.

In 2014, Thompson was tied for the lead with Se Ri Pak of South Korea after 36 and went on to claim her first major title.
